In this scene, the team is discussing a theory about a hotel room crime scene that was coated with blood that didn’t clot.
Debra Morgan: “Do we have any more evidence to support this theory?”
Dexter: “When Masuka noticed that the blood wasn’t clotting, I ran some tests, and it [the blood] was loaded with Coumadin and Heparin”
Masuka explains: “One is an anticoagulant, the other is a preservative."

Pharmacologist all over the world were cringing when this was uttered, as even a first year med student should know that both are anticoagulants!!!!
Pharmacology Integration:
Warfarin (Coumadin) works by inhibiting Vitamin K epoxide reductase decreasing hepatic synthesis of vitamin K dependent clotting factors such as factors 2, 7, 9, and 10.
Heparin works by activating antithrombin III (ATIII) a protease that inactivates clotting factors 2a, 9a. 10a. 11a, 12a.
