Probability of Matching based on USMLE Scores and Attempts
Here's some interesting data about the probability of an IMG matching in their preferred specialty based on their USMLE score!
Let's look at the strong correlation between board scores on Step 1 and 2 exams and the chances of matching in the 2013 match.
Probability of Matching into the Preferred Specialty Based on :
USMLE Step 1 Scores
Probability of Matching into the Preferred Specialty Based on:
USMLE Step 2 Scores
As we can see.... Great scores open doors! Rock those boards!
Obviously there is more then just high scores. I have seen really high scores and the student doesn't interview well and doesn't match. So Be the Best Candidate you can be. And that starts with good scores.
Also notice that there are student with really low scores that match... so there's always hope!
