When do I need to get my ECFMG Certification?
"Do I need to get my ECFMG certification to submit my application to the match?" ... I get this question alot so let's clear up the confusion:
Do I need to get my ECFMG certification to submit my application to the match?
No! You do not need to be ECFMG certified to apply to the match in September! You can submit your application without it. Yay! 
So when do I need the ECFMG Certification?
You need to be ECFMG certified by the Rank Order List Certification date which is in late February (this match year it will be Feb 26th, 2020). Note: The NRMP doesn't actually check for ECFMG certification but rather that you have passing scores on the required Step exams.
What Step exams do I need to get completed to get the ECFMG certification?
You need passing scores reported for the USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 2 CS exams.
What if I don't get the exams completed with passing scores by the Rank Order List Certification Date?
Then your application will be withdrawn(removed) from the match.
What else is ECFMG Certification required for?
You need to be be ECFGM certified for an IMG to sit for the Step 3 examination!
