Average Yearly Salary of a Resident

Yes!  You worked so hard to match and you got your residency spot!!! Congratulations!!!

Here's what you've working so hard to get... the average yearly salary for residents:

  • Please keep in mind that this is before state and Federal taxes are taken out!    Welcome to adulthood!

  • It’s really peanuts when you figure in how many hours you will be working!    The bright side is… at least your being paid rather then paying!!!

  • And most importantly, remember that what you are really working for… is the experience that will make you an amazing physician who will help others in need.

  • The salaries tend to vary with the cost of living with large cities having a higher rate then smaller towns.

its criminal....the life or death nature (1 attempt or u cant get a residency which can ultimately blow 100s of thousands of dollars). i think what makes it hard as a med student is to see what life after residency is. being stuck in a classroom..all you think about is passing step 1 and the anxiety it causes. Also, passing the exam doesnt mean squat anymore, anything less than a 210 really hurts chances of a residency. oy vey...hopefully it all works out, otherwise...idk
