Step 1 Advice From a Recent Test Taker [ En Español]

Ejercita tu mente y acostumbrala a asociar.

6. NO CAMBIES LA RESPUESTA QUE PUSISTE EN EL ULTIMO SEGUNDO. NO LO HAGAS!

Besos y abrazos y cualquier pregunta me dejan saber♡

Step 1 Advice From a Recent Test Taker

Translation to English:

My top ten tips for those who are going to take the step 1 coming soon:

10. The test evaluates the integration of concepts much more than the memorization of concepts. Exercise your mind and get used to associations.

9. Nothing looks like the exam! Although the NBME's are predictive for some people (not for all), the format of the questions is very different. If anything, I thought the association of concepts in uworld was the closest to the exam. Especially the uworld self assessment, in terms of format of questions, but not in terms of predictive value (I don't know yet).

8. When you get out of the exam your head is going to go crazy thinking about the questions that you answered wrong or wishing that you had more time to think it thru and answer the questions better. The truth is that this happens to everyone and it's inevitable.

7. You can practice your timing with regard to answering the questions a thousand times before the exam but the truth is that on the real exam you will barely have much time left. Be prepared for this! For me, for example, I always had almost 12 minutes to review questions that I marked during practice exams, but during the real exam I never had more than 5 minutes to review. In addition, you will see questions about issues that you never studied... or seen in any book... not even in first aid.

6. DON'T CHANGE THE ANSWER YOU PUT AT THE LAST SECOND. DON'T DO IT!

5. Study hard and push yourself every day but don't stop your life for this exam. Do what you like to do, exercise, party, go to the movies or to the beach... Life goes on!

4. Feel fortunate for everything that you've learned. While the score is very important, the most important thing is that at the end of the day you're a better person and a better PROFESSIONAL, ready and prepared to pass the the most important exam - the real patient.

3. During your preparation you will hear a thousand different things! Some people like uworld better, others said their score was the same as their NBME (which I scored awfully on), some take a month to read thru a book and others take ten months. Every person is different, each one perceives things differently. Do what YOU have to do to learn better... But whatever you do... DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!

2. Whatever your score is... There's always ways of matching. Don't lose faith.

1. If you love what you do and you're doing it for the good of your patient more than to have a Ferrari or a house in Beverly Hills, then each day of study will be a day that you've enjoyed since now you've learned something new... something that will help you save a life... and for every day of hard work, one way or another, you will be rewarded.

I hope that my experience will serve you well, my friends!!!  Kisses and hugs and any questions let me know ♡
